1980 Triumph Spitfire. This was obviously someone's baby. A fun little car that drives comfortably on the hiway at 75 mph, and seems to be free of issues. It comes with a hardtop (the headliner is torn), a tonneau cover, receipts from past owners, and a picture book showing "Mom" getting her car, the engine rebuild, brake and suspension work, and the custom fabrication of the exhaust system.
Since April, the following have been installed: Robbins top with zip-out rear window, rear shock absorbers, transverse spring, door caps.
Earlier this year the speedometer was replaced with a NOS unit (the old one comes with the car), and the Weber carburrettor was replaced with a rebuilt Z/S carburrettor and a manual choke conversion.
In April of last year, new alloy wheels imported from England were installed along with new tires.
The previous owner included a list of receipts totalling $11,693, $5187 of which were spent just on the engine. Also in the receipts are a new clutch, replacement transmission and driveline, brake job, suspension work, seats, etc.
Those receipts do not include the cost of the driver quality paint job (it has some dings and scratches).
Do not confuse this as being one of my restorations; I bought the car in April for our annual Memorial Day run to B.C. because my MGB was still in the bodyshop and this was the only Brit car anywhere close. MG people refer to owning a Triumph as "stepping to the dark side", hence the bumper sticker since everyone else on the run drives MGs.
Enjoy topless economical driving until the rains come, then install the hardtop and continue driving until Spring and more topless weather. $4500.
